Our Staff

Teresa Hathaway, Executive Director

Teresa began volunteering at Alpha Family Center in 2002 as a client advocate and later became a support study facilitator. She became LifeWalk Coordinator in February 2015 and beginning in July took over as the Executive Director. She is great at connecting the community to Alpha and she compassionately encourages the staff, volunteers and clients. She says she has never met a spider she doesn't like.

Laura Mills, Client Services Director

In 2014 Laura began volunteering at AFC and in June of 2015 became the Client Services Director, a position she previously held at a pregnancy center on the east side of the state. She enjoys encouraging volunteers and clients. She also enjoys a low level of chaos.

Chrystal Newman, Development Director

For over 20 years, Chrystal has worked as an advocate for vulnerable populations and loves sharing her belief that women in an unplanned pregnancy deserve more from society than pressure to abort.  Ironically enough, it was her law school experience in dissecting Roe v. Wade that led her to the conclusion that every person was created in the image of God, each with a divine purpose. She is encouraged by the empowerment women feel when they realize that they can still pursue their hopes and dreams without ending the life of their unborn child. She is planning a trek of the Appalachian Trail in 2024!

Ranee Harrington, Administrative Assistant

Ranee began volunteering at Alpha as the Wednesday morning receptionist in January 2017 and was hired as our part-time administrative assistant in January 2019. She appreciates being able to put her pro-life beliefs into action by supporting those who minister to the clients. She considers herself to be the original Elvis fan!

Our History

Alpha Family Center of Cedar Springs was opened as a satellite center of Alpha Women's Center in Grand Rapids in 1992. We moved into our current location at 6 N. First St. in 2006,  We became independent from the Alpha Women's Center in 2007 and organized under the name Alpha Family Center of Cedar Springs.

The mission of the Alpha Family Center is to affirm and promote the sanctity of human life, the value of the family, and Biblical sexuality in our community. We are a faith based organization and it is our resolve to without judgement and condemnation, projecting instead, attitudes of love, support, and service to our clients. By creating such an atmosphere, we can assist them as they develop more fully as individuals, and take significant steps toward more rewarding lives.
